President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed Engr. Edatanlen Freeborn Okhiria, as the substantive Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
A statement from the Public Relations Office, Federal Ministry Of Transport, said Okhiria had been acting as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation since the removal of Engr.Oluseyi Sijuwade from the position in February 16, 2016.
Until his appointment as the managing director, Engr. Okhiria was Director, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal and Telecommunications of the Corporation.
Okhiria was born on July 13, 1961 in Iruekpen, Essan West of Edo State.
He holds a B.Sc. Degree in (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba in1985.
Okhiria started his career at the National Electric Power Authority in 1985 as Electrical Engineer/Industrial Training where he later joined the Nigerian Institute of Instrument engineering in 1987 as Electrical Engineer.
He joined the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in March 1987 as Mechanical/Electrical Engineer where he has been working until the present appointment.
Engr. Okhiria has attended several professional courses nationally and internationally and he is a member of different professional bodies.
He is a fellow, Nigerian Institute of Engineering (FNIME), member, Nigerian Institute of society Engineers (MNSE), fellow, Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (FCILT), member, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
Okhiria is also a member, Institute of Directors (IOD), fellow, Institute of Strategic Management (FSM), and member, Nigerian Institute of Management (Chattered) (MNIM).
